Atletico Madrid forward German Pacheco in a deal worth £1million this week.
The 19 year old forward has spent much of the season playing for the same Atletico Madrid B team where former Latics target Daniel de Gea spent much of last season.
It is believed that Martinez spotted the Argentine during his loan spell with Rayo Vallecano, the former club of Momo Diame.
Pacheco holds a Spanish passport, and could well turn out to be another diamond in the rough for Roberto Martinez. Equally, the move could jsut be paper talk on behalf on Marca.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has been talking up his Spanish transfer target Adrian Colunga.
Reports have linked the 25-year-old with a move to the DW Stadium and Martinez watched him score in Zaragoza's 3-3 draw with Villarreal on the final weekend of the La Liga season.
Colunga has impressed since being loaned to Real Zaragoza from second-division Recreativo Huelva in January, scoring seven goals.
Martinez believes he would be a great success in the Premier League.
He said: "Colunga is a good player who has done very well this season.
"He has been a good player for Real Zaragoza, but not only for his speed.
"Colunga is also intelligent. He is a player who always creates problems and is very smart both with and without the ball.
"The way he has adapted to Zaragoza demonstrates the great player he is. And he wouldn't have trouble adapting to the way we play in England."
All highly rated players, Martinez's Spanish connections could be paying off here if they can land a couple of these players.
