Our press and practice day is on Sunday 16th March, and they are following it up with a buffet and race night in the bar, with a raffle where you can win a season ticket, a race jacket from last year signed by all the riders, or a free session on the training track. Think that should attract a fair few people! :D

Anyone been to any speedway meetings yet?

Our first ever Premier League match was at Sheffield last night, so I took my daughter and a couple of friends over there to cheer them on. We lost 57-36, but considering the strength of the opposition, and the fact that this was their 3rd match and only our 1st, we weren't too disappointed with it. Magnus Karlsson looked really good, and Richard Hall wasn't far behind him, so we are hopeful of pulling at least some of that defecit back in the return leg tonight.

Our promoters are really confident that we will do well this season, with Rob Godfrey saying that the aim is to get in to the play offs, and he honestly thinks we will do that. Wouldn't be a bad result in our first season, but I think we ought to wait and see what happens before making boasts like that.

People said we couldn't play
They called us foul mouthed yobs

Can't remember who it was, but I seem to remember some time ago someone on here advising me to take the plunge and get myself a ticket for the grand prix at Cardiff this year, as they were sure I would enjoy it. Well, whoever it was will be pleased to hear that I did just that, and I am really looking forward to going.

Originally we were going to travel there and back the same day, but then decided that would be too much driving (since I will be the only driver), so we started looking at hotels. Unfortunately every hotel in cardiff was booked up months ago, so we had to look further afield. Eventually I booked us into a travel lodge in Bristol for the night, and we will drive to Cardiff and use park and ride system to get to the stadium.

Yesterday my daughter pointed out that the Scunthorpe Saints (our conference league team) is riding at Rye House the following day as part of a double header, so we have decided to go over there on the Sunday and watch that, then stay in a travel lodge at Harlow on the Sunday night, then travel back the next day. Have actually booked the room for the Sunday night, and it is costing us £19 for the 3 of us to share a room! Can't complain at that! :)

Can't wait to go now! :ch:

the gunners closed in 1982 and re-opened in 1985 and won the league and aslo closed at the end of 85 and never re-opened again. i am organising a gunners reunion for october the 30th if anyone is interested. quite a few of the old gunners riders already confirmed. in answer to the question about a collins riding for ellesmere port there was in fact 2 phil collins rode for them in 76 till 78 and neil rode for them in 78. tickets for the reunion are £3.00 just email me on here
